Just a guy sharing his love for underwear of all kinds!
So, the @rufskin account has been on fire recently with a bunch of amazing promotional images of their stuff… I’m gonna pick this pair for quick review, for various reason…. =-)
This is the Europa bikini brief from their “Bunnyware” line, which I’ll probably explore more in another upcoming post… Anyway, it’s a wonderfully skimpy pair that sits low on the hips and covers just enough up front to still be considered modest. The backside, as one might expect from a bikini brief, is meant a bit more for a flat behind than a round one – but looks amazing on the right butt. I love the colors available, too, which just add to a very lightweight, laid-back look to this pair.
It’s listed as 95% cotton, 5% spandex, so I expect it feels as comfy and lightweight as it looks, too!
Here we have some classic “whitey tighties” from Polo Ralph Lauren, and I think it’s an exemplary case to demonstrate the “sexy lifetime” of traditional white briefs. I personally think a confident guy – like the one here – rocking some crisp whitey tighties is one of the sexiest looks around, but whitey tighties also have the unfortunate reputation of being so mass-produced that it’s very easy to get a pair that looks bland instead of crisp, either by poor design, lack of a good fit, or just by being worn too much and wearing out.* And a guy in bland, poorly-fitting underwear is definitely not sexy.
I’m really liking the look of the waistband on this pair, and the pouch looks like a great mix of comfy, promoting, and easy-to-use fly-wise. In that sense, I think a nice, fresh pair of the Polo Ralph Lauren briefs could be really sexy.
That said, you can see some looseness folds for these briefs around this guy’s hips, and the briefs don’t look as white as the probably could. I therefore think this is a slightly-worn (though not incredibly worn) pair. Still looking alright, but lacking some of the power and confidence this guy is otherwise giving off.
*The one big exception to worn-out whitey tighties is the bear clique of men. A big, beefy guy with thinner briefs stretched over his hips just exudes experience and desires for comfort and easiness… So yes, worn-out white briefs can be very sexy on those guys.
Material: 90% Polyamide, 10% Spandex, very slick and almost has a cooling effect, though more from the material itself since it doesn’t feel all that breathable. Aesthetic: The solid black helps with the intended slimming effect of the pair, though the effect is also intended to be more effective under other clothes – wearing a shaper like this is not intended to be seen on its own! Makes you look like you’re trying to much. X-D Waistband: When you start pulling this pair on, you will swear that this has no way whatsoever of even getting up over your thighs – at first try, it feels like a very taut waistband that’s way slimmer than advertised. That said, it actually does make its way up your body easily enough – you do have to stretch it, but even though the initial stretch feels like a lot, it doesn’t “shrink back” incredibly tightly. And of course, since it’s a shaper, the “waist"band actually sits way up on your chest. If your torso is just the wrong height, it might sit awkwardly right at your nips, but I think that’s unlikely. The pictures show it relatively low, but I didn’t try pulling it all the way up. Pouch: Also since this is a shaper, there’s very little structure to make an impressive pouch. However, this being AC, there is a fairly good extra round of fabric down in the crotch. It’s definitely not the Almost Naked pouch, but it’s roomy enough – certainly not restricting too much at all. Backside: Nothing incredibly noticeable about the backside of this shaper, aside from the fact that my actual back is not used to having something that tight around it. My back occasionally has drier skin and/or backne, so this might be a slight discomfort in those cases. No need to worry about the tag, at least, as there is no real tag, with all the info printed on the back instead. Legs: This is where I think the pair really fails. If you’re gonna be a shaper, you should probably try shaping the upper thighs as well. Alas, the legs on this are REALLY short. That aspect, combined with the very low-friction fabric and overall tightness you’d expect from a shaper, means that any time I sit down or otherwise bend at the hips, the legs immediately roll up, which feels awkward by itself and also makes the hem of the legs feel that much tighter. Also, the seam bands that go down the outside edges of the pair have an awkward hem-cover that’s somewhat paper-y and uncomfortable.
Other: By nature of being a shaper, it’s a real hassle any time you want to go to the bathroom. The only reason I’m not giving this the full "Full-Body Underwear” treatment is that it doesn’t go over the shoulders, so it’s still a slide-up-slide-down pair. Overall: 2/5 – does what it’s designed to do incredibly well, but I’m really turned off by the legs. For people who don’t have giant thighs like me, this could certainly work up to the 3.5/5 or 4/5 level of recommendation, but for me I’d want at least an inch or two more of leg. To be fair, I do really like how it feels (fabric-wise) and how well it slims me, so I would love to wear this rather often were it not for the legs. Great for: Sexy wear (assuming it’s being used to help other clothes look good) Good for: Everyday wear
I’m catching up on writing right now, and I’ll post one review later today before returning to my every-other-day schedule, which should last me halfway through the month – more than enough time to try on and review more pairs!
In the meantime, I’ll also try to be more consistent on my reblog reviews, too.
HELLO! 8-D
I really wanna know what brand builds such an impressive pouch!
Not the clearest picture, and I have no clue what brand these are, but I’m very intrigued! I don’t have many pairs of underwear like these that look almost like nothing more than a thin, rectangle-ish band of fabric that wraps all the way around. It obviously has more shape to it than that previous sentence suggests – the print on this particular pair is obscuring the pouch shape a bit for sure – but there’s not much to it! It certainly is sitting well below the hips. Not sure what the fabric here would feel like, as it seems like it might be more fashion-focused than comfort-focused. Would be interesting to try, though!
Here’s another AC pair that I also have! And this one I actually have the exact same pair – it’s the Almost Naked Holiday Air Jock (2014-15 holiday edition). Love this pair. Super comfy. The only thing I don’t like about it is the excessively glitter-y waistband, since aside from that, this is an amazing everyday look. Will post a full review when I get around to really digging in to my jockstrap collection!
I have a pair of AC briefs very similar to this pair! This appear to be one of AC’s “Retro Pop” pairs of underwear, which you can get from the tell-tale little “bridge” of border-less fabric between the front and back panels there on the hip. The closest thing currently available are these three pairs, so the color combination pictured here is apparently no longer available – and nor is the color combination I own. These Retro Pop briefs all have AC’s “Show-It” design, meaning there’s a piece of fabric on the inside of the pouch with an open ring, bordered with the same piping you see in yellow above, acting as a built-in C-ring. I’m no longer a huge fan of the Show-It line, but I liked it back when I first got a Retro Pop brief, and the overall cut and fabric are both really comfy too, so this is one of the few pairs of designer underwear of which I have multiple pairs.
This is one of three pictures in a series showing off this blue Riot @aussiebum pair… Unfortunately, this series wasn’t clear whther this guy was showing off a Riot brief or a Riot jockstrap. =-( Still, you can tell from this pic and series that the Riot cut seems like a comfy option from AussieBum, plus it’s a nice bold blue. The peekaboo hole up front is always a fun touch (which, if this a brief instead of a jockstrap, has a similar peekaboo hole just under the waistband in back too!) that definitely encourages the wearer to strut their stuff any time there’s wearing this pair, even in everyday under-the-pants situations.
Does anyone know what brand this is?? I’ve never seen it before and might be more interested than I normally would be for a plain white boxerbrief….
