Mao Jiang – transparent mesh boxers – Lilac – Large

Material: The website I ordered these from – Queer in the World – only says these are “a nylon/spandex blend for the ultimate in comfort and style”, and the tag on the pair itself doesn’t give the details, so I have no clue exactly what nylon/spandex blend these actually are! The fabric, though, definitely is incredibly comfy and breathable, and doesn’t have the mesh-bumps problem that can occur sometimes. The stretch is amazing, as is just the feel of the fabric, and of course it’s incredibly lightweight and breathable, so I think fabric style this is a win.
Aesthetic: Between the mesh and the diamond pattern and the color, this looks a lot like lingerie to me, and it’s quite fun!
Waistband: The actual structure of the waistband is covered with a thin layer of the purple fabric, so it’s incredibly soft and comfy as it sits a bit above the hips.

Pouch: Nothing super-impressive about this pouch, but it’s still quite a good one overall! It’s got a nice shape, and the fabric feels great on your junk, on top of being light and stretchy enough for you to very easily wear your willie up or down; I think the tip of the pouch is slightly better arranged for down-wearing than up-wearing, if the pictures are anything to go by, but it’s a very small difference. There isn’t much to the underside of the pouch but the pair overall still provides a moderate amount of support.
Backside: Thanks to the mesh, you get to see just about everything! And even then, the pair provides just enough support for the back to look fairly nice, even reigning in my own personal flab back there moderately well. You can see the tag, of course, but I don’t think it’s too distracting.
Legs: I like the length here as made, (and of course the fabric is very comfy,) though they could be a bit longer too. The legs are the one area where the fit of these isn’t excellent, as you can see that they roll up a little bit in some of the images above, and the lower leg hem is definitely a bit narrower than my thigh circumference… Thankfully, the fabric is good enough that these issues don’t cause much discomfort, so it doesn’t bother me too much. I could have in theory tried buying another size up, which is honestly a considering you definitely need to make when buying Asian brands, but the waistband and pouch fit me quite nicely, so I think a size up (XL with waist 35″-37″ instead of the L with waist 33″-35″) might have been a bit much. IDK

Overall: 4/5 – Very fun, very comfy lingerie boxers! Sizing might be a bit of an issue, as might fabric issues if you have those concerning nylon or spandex. Simply getting some of these for yourself could be interesting too – I can’t find any other distributors aside from Queer in the World, where they’re currently on sale for $13. Definitely try them out if you’re looking for that sheer bedroom look!

Blanc – Standard Fit Briefs – Lilac – Medium

Material: 95% Cotton, 5% Spandex, soft enough with a very nice stretch!
Aesthetic: Blanc, as a line, goes for simplicity, and they honestly do it pretty darn well! The solid lilac on this pair is unique enough to give the pair a lot of visual interest even while being a single, solid color, the waistband color complimenting it nicely, and the stylized “Blanc” logo on the waistband gives a touch of fancy to the pair.
Waistband: Honestly quite similar to the main fabric in terms of softness and stretchiness, so that’s an interesting aspect.
Pouch: Being a “standard fit” brief, there’s nothing particularly exciting about the pouch here. By the nature of the fabric, it’ll conform to your natural shape fairly well, so that’s nice. Allows for good movement while also holding you in place when not moving.
Backside: The view of the backside is easily disrupted by the fact that the print-on case information on the inside is clearly seen on the outside as well, but at least with that “tag” it’s nice in how you don’t feel it at all, even if it’s really easy to see. The lower edges of the cheeks are designed to be a little high, so it’s not complete full-coverage – you’ll probably feel those hems across the lower rounds of your cheeks from time to time. (It’s worth noting that many – but not all – briefs on the Blanc site are listed as “slim fit”, with the suggestion to buy a size up. I don’t recall if these lilac briefs had that disclaimer.)
Legs: Fairly comfy, nothing above or below what you would expect for some nice, basic briefs.
Overall: 3.5/5 – as basic, featureless briefs go, these are really quite nice! Perfect for those grab-and-go mornings, especially if you want to feel just a bit special with your everyday pairs. Only reason I’m not giving them a 4 is because of the cross-cheek hem being clearly felt from time to time.

Seven7 – Boxer Briefs – multiple colors – Medium//Large

Material: 93% Cotton, 7% Elastane, overall has a somewhat “flat” feel to it but it still soft and stretchy enough to be perfectly comfortable for everyday wear. Not super breathable, but that doesn’t feel like a big knock against it – this definitely feels like a “office underwear” situation where you wouldn’t pick this pair because you weren’t going to be in a situation where breathability would be an issue anyway.
Aesthetic: Generally very simple; it of course depends on exactly which pair you pick as some have various prints, but even those have a color palette that’s more muted and reserved to begin with – again, a very sort of “office underwear” vibe to them.
Waistband: Fairly typical as waistbands go! Not quite as tall as some others, which I think might be trying to play into that “low profile” fashion trend, but it’s a small effect here.
Pouch: Basically none. X-D There’s just enough extra fabric on the two panels that make up the front so that it doesn’t feel constraining, but there’s absolutely no effort made to provide the pair a good shape to hold your junk. It’s fine for me since I like wearing my willie pointing up, but I can somewhat imagine that this isn’t a great pair for guys who like to point downward, though.
Backside: Surprisingly unlike the relatively flat front, this pair actually shows off a really nice curve for your backside! The plaid on this particular pair also gives some visual interest, so the flat-color pairs might be a bit less to look at, but would still come up under your cheeks quite nicely. There’s a print-on tag at the top of the inside of the back panel, and it’s impossible to notice while wearing – it almost looks like precision-dyed fabric as opposed to something that was printed on!
Legs: Fairly comfy! I’d personally like them to be a tad bit longer, but no real complaints.

Other: I’ve chosen to focus on the plaid pair with the pictures here, which is a Large, but the other four I have are a tan speckled pattern (Medium), light tan plain (Medium), slate (Large), and violet (Medium).
Overall: 3/5 – I went back and forth between 3 or something higher for this pair, because there’s really nothing wrong with it aside from a marginally flat pouch, and since it’s not really meant as a show-off-y pair (while still having a great backside) I didn’t want to count that against the pair too much. That said, it’s a very plain pair, so I ultimately settled on the 3 because I can’t see it being a pair people will every look forward to wearing at all. Still, it’s a great pair for everyday office wear and the like, so definitely worth having in your collection for those days you wake up feeling a little blah and just want something simple to pull on and get the day started. X-D Seven7 is a jeans brand before an underwear brand, so the practicality-minded nature of the pairs makes total sense in that context.

This here is the super-colorful Apex Brief from Marco Marco – which, sadly, does not seem to be available any more, although Marco Marco does have their Flux line of underwear that features the exact same paneling pattern as Apex and the exact same fabric makeup, (82% Polyester, 18% Spandex,) just with much lower color variety in any single pair. It’s a bit of a shame, because I love just how colorful these are, notwithstanding how much the neon of these colors pops so much! But at least the Flux line is quite nice too. Also, I can’t find any pictures of the backside of the Apex brief, but the Flux briefs all have this open window on the backside just beneath the waistband, so that’s fun!

I do really love the paneling on this pair. The block colors give a really strong appearance while helping everything “pop” well. The paneling on the pouch in particular provides some visual enhancement to the already-impressive pouch shape, which is great too.

Sheath – 4.0 Dual Pouch Boxer Brief – Purple – M

Material: 92% Modal, 8% Elastane, which is a small shift toward Elastane versus the 3.21 Boxer Brief. The fabric is a little bit cooler to the touch than the 3.21, and also has lower friction. Sheath also chose to go thinner this time, making the pair all the more lightweight and breathable.
Aesthetic: Definitely a bit more stylish and sporty than the 3.21! The 3.21 almost looks like a winter pair for warmth, or at least a “lazy weekend indoors” pair; the 4.0 looks like what a moderately athletic office worker might wear on the day to day in spring or fall. For this color of the 4.0 in particular, I think the white waistband gives a nice pop and, against the solid purple base of the pair, almost looks like a bit of a fabric belt, more so than other contrasting-waistband looks I’ve seen. Worth noting that the 4.0 also has options that are not solid-color affairs, which is not something you got with the 3.21.
Waistband: Definitely soft and very stretchy! This is probably the most noticeable contrast to the 3.21, which had the fabric of the main pair wrapped all the way around the waistband. It mad the 3.21’s waistband incredibly soft and comfy, but also a little bulky; the 4.0 sacrifices almost all of the bulk while still being incredibly comfy as traditional waistbands go. Good, typical height; sits at or above the hips – I’m not sure if the rise was intended to be different between the 3.21 and the 4.0, but at least personally, the 4.0 feels more natural sitting a bit higher.
Pouch: I went into all the details of Sheath’s dual pouch design last time, so I won’t rehash them here. All I’ll say is that they’ve still got one of the best dual-pouch designs in the business! Cradles your balls in a separate pocket, and the fly is incredibly easy for you to use. I think the lighter fabric of the 4.0 also makes the pouch a little more prominent than the 3.21 pouch was – not that the 3.21 didn’t let you show off a bit – but the 4.0 somewhat lets your balls factor into the overall look of your package while the 3.21 mostly only let your willie show.

Backside: Not too much to say here that I didn’t say for the 3.21, although I think the more-athletically-minded design of the 4.0 versus the 3.21 factors in to making the backside of the 4.0 a bit more taut and shapely, somewhere between the 3.21 and the Saxx pair I compared the 3.21 to. There is a “tag” printed on the inside of the backside here, but it fades very quickly; you won’t notice it at all.
Legs: Again, the fabric of the 4.0 feels a tad bit tighter than that of the 3.21, which here is a good thing as I noted the slight feeling of looseness before.
Overall: 5/5 – I gave the 3.21 a 4.5/5 if only because they were a bit expensive, and while the price for the 4.0 is about the same (unless you catch it on sale – which they are as I’m writing this post) the 4.0 is, I think, just a sliver better than the 3.21, so it gets to join the 5/5 club.

Veni Masse – Breathable separate ball hammock Boxer Brief – Purple – L

Material: 95% Modal, 5% Spandex, making it very lightweight and stretchable, and overall just feeling like it’s floating on you even as it hugs fairly close to the body, in whatever position you want to be in.
Aesthetic: Solid purple with a fancy, almost Greek-like pattern on the waistband (reminiscent of Marco Marco or Garcon Model) definitely gives it a “royal” vibe. Beyond that, the prominence of the pouch with mesh on the lower half is unmistakable, and certainly eye-catching.
Waistband: Unlike the other two Veni Masse pairs, the waistband here is not nearly as soft, and it’s a bit stiffer, almost like a more industrial default companies use for elastic-ish waistbands. You will feel the upper edge of this waistband against your own sides from time to time while wearing the pair. Also, the lower sew line on the waistband (where it connects to the main fabric) is not quite as elastic as the rest of the waistband; you won’t notice it while simply wearing the pair, but it will feel a bit tighter along that line in particular when pulling the pair on or off.
Pouch: Impressive, to say the least! This pair is noticeably different than the other two Veni Masse pairs in that this pouch is all just one panel of fabric, (well, two with the very breathable mesh around your balls, but you get what I mean,) with no fly and officially no “dual pouch” design. That said, with how contoured and shaped this pouch is, it almost might as well be a dual pouch design, as it maintains the lower pouch for your balls (which still functions perfectly well) and adds such a large, definitely pouch for your willie that it’s very unlikely that your junk moves around from one sub-pouch to the other. The fabric’s stretchiness combined with just how much is there also means that the upper prominent pouch can move quite a bit while still keeping hold of your willie, so it offer much, much more freedom of movement and position than the other two Veni Masse pairs do.
Backside: This pair doesn’t just suggest a slight separation between your cheeks, but actually comes up a bit higher than the other two pairs do (depending on your body position, it may give the slightest hint of a thong feeling) to provide some space between your cheeks. Visually, a nice touch, though if you don’t like fabric coming up your crack, then maybe it’s not for you. Otherwise, there isn’t visually much to discuss, though solid purple is certainly more enjoyable to look at than a greyscale solid color, and the hint of hems you see between the legs is nice too.
Legs: Like the first Veni Masse pair I reviewed, the legs are a bit short, but the leg openings are nicely stretchy and the fabric itself if quite comfortable. Unlike the first pair, though, you can see that these leg hems have an incredible habit of rolling up on themselves, thanks to my big thighs. Thankfully, as mentioned already, the fabric is stretchy and soft, so this rolling doesn’t provide noticeable discomfort, which over has happened with other pairs where the leg openings roll up.
Overall: 3.5/5 – I would rank these as a 4 or 4.5 were it not for the waistband, which is a disappointment compared to the rest of the pair and compared to the waistbands on the other two Veni Masse pairs. Still, I generally enjoy wearing this pair, and I think it’s probably quite a good option as long as you don’t move too much over the course of the day in a way that the motion makes you notice the waistband.

Clever – Kiwi Open-fly Brief – Grape Stripe – M

Material: 94% Nylon, 6% Spandex, and though it very clearly and unsurprisingly feels synthetic, it’s a few soft and mostly breathable kind of “synthetic” that I can’t say I’ve felt before! It’s also ever so slightly sheer in the “darker” stripes of the pair – not very much, only easy to tell when held up to the light, but still fun (and probably why it feels more breathable than other clearly-synthetic pairs I’ve encountered).
Aesthetic: It’s a mix of darker colors, which gives it a somewhat muted look, and yet it’s simultaneously a fairly bold combination with the purple, maroon, and navy. The striping is also a huge plus, as it gives the pair a very stylish touch.
Waistband: Fairly typical as waistbands go. Sits at or maybe even slightly above the hips.
Pouch: This is where I’m really surprised with this pair! There’s not a huge amount of definition or shape to the pouch, (though it’s spacious enough, especially lower,) which can be somewhat expected of a brief with a vertical fly like this pair has. But look at the fly’s orientation – it opens to the LEFT instead of the RIGHT! I’ve literally never encountered a “left-handed fly” before. X-D Unfortunately for all you lefties out there, the outside and inside panels of the fly have such a large overlap that the fly is somewhat uncomfortable to use, even though each opening itself is quite forgiving. (Then there’s also the issue that the zipper flies on most pants are still right-opening themselves, so there’s a bit of a zig-zag to navigate there even in typical usage.)
Backside: Simple enough! Full coverage, done well. The stripes here are particularly useful for making the backside, espeically a big one like this, look nice. The tag hangs down in the back; it’s very soft and basically not noticeable.
Legs: Nothing major to write home about with the leg opennigs here. Like the openings to the fly, the hems to the legs are soft and very forgiving – to much better effect here, obviously.
Overall: 4/5 – despite the big issues with the orientation and usability of the fly, I’m going out on a limb and giving this a 4/5 because it’s honestly a really comfortable and fairly good-looking pair.
