Excavating The Bin

I moved about three years ago, and when doing so, about half of my underwear collection was transported in a big plastic tub that has lived in my closet with very little interaction since. Well, with my 100th review coming up and wanting to expand my Sales offerings, I decided to really dig in to my underwear past!

Featured center foreground in the pic above are the rainbow of Mossimo boxer briefs that I got at Target years ago as the very beginnings of my underwear collection. Dead center are some of the pairs that I think border on lingerie, some from Envy, some from Gregg Homme, and the orange one from (I believe) CheapUndies of all places! And of course, several piles of different styles all around, most quite colorful. =-)

The still-bagged set of underwear mid-top left are other pairs I like and was just too lazy to pull out for this pic. X-D The two bags upper-right, though, are underwear that I had previously (before moving) set aside as pairs I could potentially sell off, so expect those to be added to my Sales page over the next month or so!

Approaching 100!

While drafting up some posts tonight, I realized that I’m fast approaching my 100th official review. On my normal schedule, it should happen on Saturday May 8th. Guess I gotta plan for a really good pair to review that day! Maybe I can review one of the ones I recently bought, but IDK how good any of those will be… Could also dig deep into my collection and try to pull out the very first pairs I ever bought on my own for my collection. We’ll see! Any thoughts from you readers?

Boxer terminology

Briefs are pretty straightforward. While bikinis and tangas are similar to true briefs, each of those has a fairly distinctive feature that separates if from being a brief (e.g. bikinis are nothing but waistband at the hips). Thongs, g-strings, and jockstraps are all similar to briefs in front but very different in back. The only real grey area in brief-adjacent things is the existence of jock-briefs; there’s a sliding scale of brief/brief-with-a-hole/jock-brief/jockstrap, but it’s also a fairly straightforward continuum there, so not a ton of confusion.

Boxers though? Holy hell, that’s a mess!

There’s little to no standard as to what brands call their underwear with legs. Before I started ordering lots of underwear, this is what I thought we had:
Boxers: long-ish legs, completely flat front, has a fly that’s usually buttoned but sometimes just open, and fairly loose (though not always)
Boxer briefs: long-ish legs, some attempt (even if minimal) of acknowledging anatomy e.g. nice pouch and/or fly (like traditional briefs), and usually somewhat skintight
Trunks: shorter than the others occasionally to the point of approaching briefs, usually have a good pouch, usually do *not* have a fly, also fairly skintight

Is that how men’s underwear these days actually works? Not in the slightest! I’ve seen long, Y-Fly pairs advertised as “trunks”, I’ve seen tight, square-cut pairs advertised as “boxers”, and a ton of craziness in between. That’s not even mentioning the “midcuts” that come up – basically my idea of “trunks”, but longer.

Does anyone else want to try making sense of all of this? Because I’ve mostly given up at this point. X’-D I still have to categorize things on the blog here, so that’s why this got on my mind.

New AussieBum order & schedule update

I took advantage of AussieBum’s Boxing Day sale, and the order came in on Wednesday! Here’s a preview of what I got:

I think I’m going to review all five of these AussieBum pairs, (two are already complete and in my queue,) and even though I haven’t hit everything shown/mentioned in the previous “new order” post, I think I may take a short break to reorganize everything on the back end. My underwear shelves in my room are an absolute disorganized mess, and I haven’t decided yet which pairs I want to start selling or how my sales page is going to be set up. I’ll also probably try to update my index posts and tag system here on the blog too.

I’ll still do reblog reviews on my normal Tues/Thur/Sat schedule, though! So no worries, you’ll still get me talking about underwear and showing off attractive pictures. =-)

Tentative winter post schedule

Hi all! With all of the pairs I have to review from my recent orders and some backlog, I think what I’m going to do I schedule thorough reviews of my posts for Saturdays and Tuesday, and then maybe post reblog reviews on Thusdays (which gives me the opportunity to maybe indulge in “Thirsty Thursdays” every once in a while). Hope that sounds good! And I’ll do my best to stick to it.

New posts hopefully soon

After well over a year, I think I might have the time and bandwidth to start making reviews again! I’m hoping I can do a higher proportion of my own reviews versus the random pics I share, but we’ll see what works.

I don’t have a full-time job at the moment, which helps with having time. X-D Also, I may actually get a move on the idea I’ve previously floated in selling pairs that I don’t want anymore, whether because I got the wrong size or don’t like the look or are just bored with. So if you want anything you’ve seen here – or others – you might have a chance soon!

#NationalUnderwearDay

Apparently it’s a thing.

And it happened yesterday. I totally missed it.

Sorry guys, I’ve failed as an underwear blogger.

Just gonna shut the whole thing down now…

I certainly am embarrassed at this oversight, though. Gotta find a way to make it up somehow… Any ideas?

Random bedtime outfit

Me, modeling red with hints of blue!

One thing I’ve added to my blog since moving here to WordPress is a new tag for “outfits”. As I’ve mentioned before, I love pairing underwear with other items of clothing; I noticed while fixing categories and links and such that I talked about outfit fun enough to think it deserves an official tag.

Anyway, here I am with an Andrew Christian Almost Naked trunk and a Modus Vivendi talk top, ready to head to bed tonight. Felt sexy enough to consider sharing my sleepy style with y’all. 🙂

Getting back on track

Just spent parts of the last two days going through and fixing links in all my old posts as well as adding categories to them! Just about every post of the last 8m or so now has a category and fixed links, which amount to a bit more than half of the blog overall.

Anyway, the other things I did today was take some new pics! I go back to work tomorrow, but hopefully I’ll get around to writing new reviews soon. I think, once I get a queue built up again, I’ll try for a post every four days or so.

I’ll try to intersperse those with “reblog” reviews like I have previously, but I’ll have to figure out exactly what that means here on WordPress. I may rely on finding pictures on Tumblr still or on Sharesome (yes I’ve joined there too) to copy and paste into this blog. I don’t know of an easy way to “reblog” WordPress posts from other people, or even how to easily find other men’s underwear blogs to find such posts in.

I do have some other ideas of what to do for posts, though. I’m thinking of doing grouped reviews of brands overall, or specific lines of underwear within brands (i.e. the “Feel” line from Ergowear, or any “Almost Naked” pairs from Andrew Christian). Whatever I do, I’ll try to keep posts coming here!

New community guidelines

As I’m sure everyone has already noticed, Tumblr has decided adult content will be disallowed from the platform starting two weeks from now, and their bots have been going around flagging everything adult – and, as many people are pointing out, much more than that. (Their bot wasn’t trained very well, and seems to be flagging posts from LGBTQ creators with alarming frequency, even if the posts themselves are entirely innocent.)

UndieReviews DC is not, persay, and entirely innocent blog, as the nature of reviewing underwear means you’re always very close to (and sometimes directly showing) male genitals and/or ass.

I try to keep this blog relatively professional, as all of my reviews – self-produced or reblogged – stay away from showing erect willies, even covered, and only 5-10% of my posts even expose the genitals to begin with. That said, mesh/sheer underwear and pairs that are designed to expose your junk with, of course, expose the genitals. It’s the nature of the subject matter.

About ¾ of my self-produced reviews in the past two or so months have been flagged; not of my older reviews have been flagged yet, but I assume that’s only because the bots are crawling backwards in time, because none of my recent reviews directly expose the family jewels, but some of my older reviews clearly do. I’ve asked for direct review of everything that’s been flagged before, as well as sent Support a message asking how viable this blog will be in the future simply due to its nature. If I get negative reactions to either, I think I may just have to jump ship. =-(
