Andrew Christian – Almost Naked Freedom Jock w/ Show-It – Lime – Small

101

Material: 95% Cotton, 5% Spandex, and unsurprisingly feels very soft and cotton-y while also having a nice bit of stretch – but more on that later. Very lightweight and breathable.
Aesthetic: Lime green main fabric with a deep purple hem and a rainbow waistband can only be summed up by saying “Candy Pop!”. Bright with just the right of amount of intentional jarring, this pair absolutely demands to be looked at. And once you do look, you notice the lack of straps or anything on the back at all, which can absolutely catch you off-guard if you’re not used to seeing sling underwear (a.k.a. strapless jocks, “socks”, or however you want to categorize them).
Waistband: Softer and stretchier than some other waistbands, but otherwise pretty typical. Two-part tag in the back; I don’t recall exactly what it felt like when new, but by now it’s all quite soft (and the hanging part of the tag on my pair is uniformly frayed now).
Pouch: This pair is listed as both “Almost Naked” and “Show-It”, which I generally feel like are two non-compatible styles of AC’s design inventory, as the Show-It necessitates an inner C-ring that conflicts with the free-movement, feels-line-wearing-nothing idea behind Almost Naked, but here I can at least see when they’re both listed. Ahead of the inner C-ring, the pouch itself is fairly large and loose, which does fit that Almost Naked ideology. Still, the Show-It tech limits movement and definitely feels like it’s there, so it’s definitely not Almost Naked. The other big issue that I personally have with this pair is a common worry with slings that, for me, has been exacerbated by sizing, and that’s under-scrotum cut-in. In order for slings to stay on during the day, they usually have to have some level of grip on your anatomy, and sometimes that grip can be too strong, particularly under your junk, which is obviously undesired. You can see in the second picture above that the purple lower hem has come way up high between my thighs, and that’s not even where the underside of the internal C-ring is (see below). My balls have been pulled up incredibly far, giving that cut-in feeling below, meaning I can’t wear this pair for very long at all, and I think part of the reason that the bottom hem of this pair has come up so high is that the pair has stretched horizontally a fair amount to fit around my hips – if I had a larger size, the vertical compression in response to the horizontal stretch wouldn’t be nearly as much, and this pair would probably be a lot more comfortable. That’s why I’m selling this pair, so hopefully someone slimmer than me can really make this pair shine.

Backside/Legs: NA
Overall: 2.5/5 – I mostly rate this on the lower side simply for poor fit, which I don’t normally do, but I’m also not as much a fan of AC’s Show-It design either. It does have its place, though! (Which I may feature in a future review.) In the meantime, I do think this pair is easily a 4/5 or 4.5/5 on looks alone, so that’s on the fun site.

N2N Bodywear – BS1 Laguna Beach Short – Grey – M

054

Material: 50% Polyester, 50% Rayon, a very lightweight & breathable combination, while staying quite soft to the touch =-)
Aesthetic: This “beach short” looks more to me like something you’d wear to bed or wear around the house on a lazy weekend day – and that’s a compliment! The professional pics are great, with the thigh-hugging-but-still-somehow-laid-back legs going all the way down to the knees, highlighted by those great horizontal stripes. That look is mostly preserved on me as well, although you can already see that the legs don’t go all the way down to my knees, and I’ll get there later. The front is kinda flat, but it allows for a small bulge to show, and the “flat” look is counteracted by the stripes, which is nice.
Waistband: Interesting design on this waistband: there’s a clear drawstring through the middle of the waistband, with hems a little ways on either side of it, almost giving the waistband a striped look itself, even if it’s only in texture and all the same color. The very very top of the waistband is kinda stiffer/harder than the rest, which is an odd feel. It doesn’t feel like it rides low when you’re standing up, (even though you can see V-lines in the professional pics and even the edges of my hip lines above,) but when you sit, the back of the waistband feels like it’s pulled down quite a bit. (This might be more a factor of my personal dimensions than part of the design, though, since sitting emphasizes the curve of the ass…)
Pouch: There is no pouch to speak of as the pair is flat-front. The pair is fairly tight, so you’ll get a fairly clear bump whether you wear your willie down (as in the pics above) or up (in which case your balls will show as well). If you don’t tie off the drawstring, though, it will mask the bulge a little bit too, so it all depends on your comfort level (both how you like your junk and how much you want to show off). Unfortunately, with this being essentially a boxer, there’s absolutely no lower-support for your balls, which is fine for looser boxers but definitely feels weird with a tighter pair like these (since they hold you in place in front but not below).
Backside: Looks pretty good! The design of the pair is a smoother top-to-bottom intent, so it minimizes instead of highlights your curves. As such, I think this pair is designed for guys that don’t have an ass (especially with the waistband-getting-pulled-down issue). There’s a tag hanging from the back of the waistband, but it’s very soft and lightweight, so there’s no problem there.
Legs: Not only is this pair designed from guys with no ass, but I think it’s designed for guys with thinner thighs too. The biggest thing I noticed when first pulling it on was that it did NOT want to stretch around my thighs. (That made it hard to pull all the way up, which didn’t help the lack-of-ball-support issue). This probably explains how the pair doesn’t quiiiiite reach my knees, as some of the length is instead going into a horizontal stretch – and, maybe sadly, the pair now looks stretched when not on me.

Exacerbating this was the fact that, even as most of the pair ultimately got to fitting me, (stretching aside,) the lowest hems of the legs are NOT stretchy at all. As much as I want this pair to be great for loungewear or sleepwear as it looks and feels like it should, these tight hems add a level of discomfort that makes both of those somewhat untenable.
Overall: 2.5/5 – I really, really wish I could give this pair a 4/5 or higher, especially since I think these would be amazing for someone with the right body type. However, that body type is clearly not my body type, so I just can’t rate them too highly.

Contour – Basic Brief – Grey – M

051

image

Material: 100% Cotton, woven into a rather “flat” style of fabric, to the point where it doesn’t really feel like 100% cotton. It’s certainly not as soft and comfy as the fabric of Contour’s “Prive Full” Brief I reviewed the other day, and it feel like it won’t be as warm either (an important consideration as we move into the cooler time of year).
Aesthetic: Very plain. Really lets you notice the shape and texture of the underwear, which in both cases is not quite as good as the Prive Full option. Still fairly good, just not quite as good in comparison.
Waistband: Not really there! I mean, it is, but it’s wrapped in more of the general fabric itself, which is pretty nice. Same as before!
Pouch: Again, very simple, but effective as such! Kinda flat, but can contour enough to give a good bulge if you wear your willie downward. Definitely comfortable; like many of the pairs I’ve reviewed, the pouch has a double layer of fabric, in contrast to the single layer through most of the pair.
Backside: Just a plain expanse of fabric – so it’s comfortable enough, though not a ton to look at. Also a bit more obvious that you’re wearing it during general wear due to the “flat” feel of the fabric. This pair has a more traditional tag hanging just under the middle-back of the waistband, but it’s soft enough that you definitely don’t notice it, so that’s a plus.
Legs: The leg openings on this are a bit more obvious than those on the Prive Full brief, but this M pair has the leg openings very nicely sized.
Other: If you’re wondering if there might be a price difference between the Basic brief and the Prive Full brief that explains how the Prive Full is just a bit better in almost every department – there is. When I bought these on CheapUndies, the Basic was $6 and the Prive Full was $7 (versus original prices of $15 and $22 respectively). Certainly worth it to get the Prive Full in either case. When buying these Contour pairs, I had *wanted* an M Prive Full, but those were sold out, which is why I bought the Prive Full at either size around M and also the basic at M. I think it’s let me make a very nice comparison.
Overall: 2/5 – not really a bad pair of briefs, but it certainly fails in comparison to both the Prive Full and to other simple briefs that I’ve rated as 3/5 or 3.5/5 previously.
Great for: Everyday wear
Good for: Loungewear, Activewear

Pikante – Battle Submarine Thong – Black – M

048

Material: 88% Nylon, 12% Spandex, overall fairly comfy! Not super-soft or super-smooth, but definitely nicely functional.
Aesthetic: Well, it’s Pikante… Having sailor faces all over the pouch is certainly a fun take! X-D The small horizontal mesh panel also adds to Pikante’s risque M.O.
Waistband: The waistband itself it pretty good, material-wise, though this thong suffers from a symptom I’ve seen among many more “stylish” underwear pairs in that the stitching that connects the waistband to the rest of the pair causes that lowest sliver of the waistband to be much less elastic than the rest of the waistband overall. This makes it a bit of a pain to pull on or off, with the one thin but strong section of the pair that is much less forgiving than the material around it. Always makes you worry about tearing something important. And although it’s not shown in the pictures above, that lowest edge of the waistband has a tendency to roll up over the rest of the waistband above each hip.
Pouch: Very nice shape, especially the lower part of the pouch! That is, it forms a really nice little pocket for your balls; doesn’t “lift” them a lot, but keeps them very well separate from your legs. The pouch overall also wiggles nicely. The pouch fabric also has lines of “breathing holes” throughout it, so that in theory makes the pair very comfy to wear long-term. And of course, the peekaboo mesh panel across the top is a sexy little touch; conveniently, you don’t really notice the difference in fabric at all while wearing the thong. The only downside is that the pouch isn’t incredibly wide against your body, and might but in a little bit with long-term wear; that latter fact might be a function of the theme I’ve noticed with Pikante often being under-sized.
Backside/String: This thong has one of the widest “straps” I’ve ever seen! You might think that means it’s uncomfortable between the cheeks, but the fabric is thin and comfy enough that it simply folds up, and you don’t really notice it! The tag in back is moderately large and moderately stiff, but thankfully is attached in a place and way that you don’t really notice it either (i.e. the edges aren’t annoying at all.)
Other: This is the first Pikante pair I’ve ever bought where the sizing is moderately correct versus what I expect. X-D I may get to reviewing some of old purchase attempts, but they’ve almost always run too small for me, as alluded to earlier.
Overall: 2/5 – I hesitate to call this a “bad” pair, so I feel a bit bad about giving it just a 2, but the waistband issue is just a bit much for me to overlook. Were it not for that, this could be a 3.5/5. Still a very fun pair, and if you like thongs and can get the sizing correct, definitely worth wearing!
Great for: Sexy wear
Good for: Everyday wear

Justin Case – Zebra Brief – Zebra print – Medium

042

Material: 95% Polyester, 5% Spandex, and it definitely feels synthetic. Even though the sizing of the pair is appropriate, the pair always feel just a little tight/gripping, and I’m guessing that’s from the fabric. It’s not a pair that makes you feel like you’re not wearing underwear at all – it’s definitely there, especially around the edges. It’s slightly sheer, which is kinda fun, and the smooth, low-friction feel is nice too.
Aesthetic: Zebra print is always fun! It’s broken up a little by the extra fabric for the pouch, but it still works well. The waistband is bold without being to obtrusive.
Waistband: Confortably elastic, though the material isn’t quite as soft as it maybe could be. It’s listed as 32-34 but still feels a little tighter than that while slipping it on.

Pouch: There’s an extra layer of fabric here, I assume to make it a bit softer and to protect your junk from whatever pants you’re wearing, but it doesn’t feel anything special with the extra layer. Not a lot of shape to this pouch, but at least it’s not constricting in any way, and still holds your junk up nicely enough.
Backside: Not much to say here… Just another backside, mostly! As mentioned before, you can definitely feel that the fabric is there.
Legs: The leg openings on the pair as ever so slightly on the tighter side, mostly around the hips and in front of the thighs (thankfully not in the crotch itself). The tightness isn’t really that uncomfortable, but the hems do leave marks on my legs (which is partially on me with my big thighs).
Overall: 2.5/5 – nothing particularly bad about the pair, but nothing particularly good either. If you want that “animal” look in the bedroom, absolutely go for it!
Great for: Sexy wear
Good for: Activewear, Everyday wear

Andrew Christian – ActiveSlim Seamless & Tagless Body Shaper – Black – Medium

032

Material: 90% Polyamide, 10% Spandex, very slick and almost has a cooling effect, though more from the material itself since it doesn’t feel all that breathable.
Aesthetic: The solid black helps with the intended slimming effect of the pair, though the effect is also intended to be more effective under other clothes – wearing a shaper like this is not intended to be seen on its own! Makes you look like you’re trying to much. X-D
Waistband: When you start pulling this pair on, you will swear that this has no way whatsoever of even getting up over your thighs – at first try, it feels like a very taut waistband that’s way slimmer than advertised. That said, it actually does make its way up your body easily enough – you do have to stretch it, but even though the initial stretch feels like a lot, it doesn’t “shrink back” incredibly tightly. And of course, since it’s a shaper, the “waist"band actually sits way up on your chest. If your torso is just the wrong height, it might sit awkwardly right at your nips, but I think that’s unlikely. The pictures show it relatively low, but I didn’t try pulling it all the way up.
Pouch: Also since this is a shaper, there’s very little structure to make an impressive pouch. However, this being AC, there is a fairly good extra round of fabric down in the crotch. It’s definitely not the Almost Naked pouch, but it’s roomy enough – certainly not restricting too much at all.
Backside: Nothing incredibly noticeable about the backside of this shaper, aside from the fact that my actual back is not used to having something that tight around it. My back occasionally has drier skin and/or backne, so this might be a slight discomfort in those cases. No need to worry about the tag, at least, as there is no real tag, with all the info printed on the back instead.
Legs: This is where I think the pair really fails. If you’re gonna be a shaper, you should probably try shaping the upper thighs as well. Alas, the legs on this are REALLY short. That aspect, combined with the very low-friction fabric and overall tightness you’d expect from a shaper, means that any time I sit down or otherwise bend at the hips, the legs immediately roll up, which feels awkward by itself and also makes the hem of the legs feel that much tighter. Also, the seam bands that go down the outside edges of the pair have an awkward hem-cover that’s somewhat paper-y and uncomfortable.

Other: By nature of being a shaper, it’s a real hassle any time you want to go to the bathroom. The only reason I’m not giving this the full "Full-Body Underwear” treatment is that it doesn’t go over the shoulders, so it’s still a slide-up-slide-down pair.
Overall: 2/5 – does what it’s designed to do incredibly well, but I’m really turned off by the legs. For people who don’t have giant thighs like me, this could certainly work up to the 3.5/5 or 4/5 level of recommendation, but for me I’d want at least an inch or two more of leg. To be fair, I do really like how it feels (fabric-wise) and how well it slims me, so I would love to wear this rather often were it not for the legs.
Great for: Sexy wear (assuming it’s being used to help other clothes look good)
Good for: Everyday wear

Xtremen – Classic Stripes Boxer Brief – Red, White, and Blue – Medium

029

Material: 80% Nylon, 10% Polyester, 10% Spandex, definitely feels smooth, sleek, and synthetic. Not as lightweight as it probably could be, though, and not incredibly breathable.
Aesthetic: The stripes pattern makes it quite a looker! Especially with the changing angle of the stripes on the pouch. I’m not a huge fan of the horizontal pattern inserted between the thighs, though – the discontinuities are disconcerting.
Waistband: A little on the tight side, and not the softest material either. Folds over fairly easily.
Pouch: Has some contour to give your boys a little bit of room, but overall there’s not much there – it keeps you in place by not giving you much room to fill out. Nice if you’re exercising, especially with the cool-feeling, low-friction fabric, and also alright if you’re gonna be sitting most of your day. Aside from that, though, not much to write home about.
Backside: Like the rest of the pair, it’s on the tighter side, and this is one pair that really just holds everything down instead of meeting your cheeks in the middle. It’s tight enough that the seams (which are already visually a bit too obvious) don’t lie fully against the skin, which shows just how taught the backside is.
Legs: Fairly good, but again a little on the tight side for my liking. Fairly good length, though, especially since the fabric is relatively low-friction.
Overall: 2.5/5 – not bad, but you can do better, I think. Looks better than it feels. I’m wondering if it would have benefited me to get a large instead of a medium – would maybe solve a lot of the tightness issues, but don’t think it would have solved the waistband folding or the general pouch shape.
Great for: Activewear, Sexy wear
Good for: Everyday wear

Pride USA – G-Slinger – Orange – Medium

027

image

Material: 95% Cotton, 5% Spandex, relatively comfortable and soft.
Aesthetic: The “corner triangle cutouts” are a very fun touch to this pair, though I think the effect would have been better if the hue was fully saturated – it’s ever-so-washed-out by design, so there’s something to be desired in the “fun” department even as the cut is somewhat teasing with the peekaboo corners there.
Waistband: Small and same general design as the string itself, meaning it’s very comfy.

image

Pouch/String: The shape of the pouch here is fairly nice, but the overall construction is a bit suspect. When worn lower as I think it was designed to, you can see that the edges of the pouch hover are pushed away from the skin with even the slightest bit of weight/growth from your junk (left panel). At the same time, the string is a great size around but too long overall, making it obscenely loose (center panel). You can in theory solve both problems but pulling the waistband higher, but then to run into the problem that the edges of the pouch no longer correctly sit in the creases where your legs meet your torso (right panel), which both looks weird and gives an awkward feeling of undress.
Overall: 2/5 – maybe someone with the right body type / hip shape might be able to pull this g-string off better, but just on my experience, I wouldn’t recommend it.
Great for: NA
Good for: Sexy wear, Sex wear, Sleepwear

U-Shark – Ultra Bulge Bikini Pouch – Rainbow – Single Size

024

Material: Unfortunately, the Amazon page where you can get this doesn’t list the material blend, nor does it have a tag, so I’m not going wager a guess, but it’s sufficiently soft.
Aesthetic: If the pouch design didn’t get your attention to begin with, then the rainbow fabric certainly will! It’s meant to be eye-catching, and it certainly is! I’m not sure how you draw more attention short of using neon and glitter. X-D
Pouch: The general construction of this pair is one slightly two-part sack explicitly for your balls and one longer sleeve for your willie. It’s a similar concept to the K’mando pouch in this respect, but aside from the massive material difference it also has a noticeable sizing difference, with this pair erring on the side of being potentially oversized instead of being potentially undersized. Even the opening favors being big rather than being small, relying on a drawstring to help it stay on (instead of being small enough that it naturally stays on but is hard to get in to). You can see that the drawstring causes the “lip” to bunch up a little bit, but it’s really not noticeable. The drawstring itself is on the long side and more whip-like than shoelace-like, which makes it a bit frustrating if you let it all dangle, but it works well to wrap it around your junk as an extra keep-it-on measure. Both the sleeve and the ball pouch will show whether or not you’re filling them out completely thanks to how the “corners” of each pouch are constructed. However, it looks and feels great when you are filling it out! Obviuously you don’t have as much control over your ball size than you do your dick size, but the ball pouch is less noticeable anyway, so it all works out.
Overall: 2.5/5 – definitely a fun pouch to own if you like being a bit silly and show-off-ish! Just probably not one that’s worth really seeking out in terms of practicality and over-the-top design. Still comfy, of course.
Great for: Sleepwear

Joe Boxer – Classic Cotton Boxer – White – Medium

023

image

Material: 100% Cotton and soft as you’d expect it! (You might suggest it’s a function of this pair’s pre-collection age, but it has always been super-soft.)
Aesthetic: You can’t really go wrong with a classic white, plus a true Joe Boxer vintage white-waistband-with-bold-black-text waistband – unless, of course, the pair has aged to the point of looking thin and ragged, which this pair somewhat has. Still, if you can get your hands on a crisp, fresh pair of classic white boxer-briefs like this pair, I’d say go for it!
Waistband: Feeling-wise, what you expect of most waistbands. Sits right up at or beneath the waist; good size.
Pouch: The one downside for having a truly classic white (boxer) brief look is that there’s essentially no shape whatsoever to the pouch – it’s super flat. The one upside to this pair is that it’s not entirely a true traditional vertical fly – the inner fly opening is a looser, non-trimmed horizontal opening not unlike the inner fly opening in the Jack Adams Core Cycle Trunk. However, while the inner opening of the fly has easy access, the outer opening is NOT, at least not by design. The opening is small and attaches too far up the “V” structure of the brief, making this more similar to the AC Tagless Brief. At least, it was – as you can see from the photos below, I’ve made a modification to the pair. Back in my late teens, I was as annoyed with the inaccessible fly opening as I am now, but I still loved the overall feel of the pair and the inner fly opening, so I decided to take a pair of scissors to the pair. Snip snip! You can see now that the right and left “triangles” formed by the trim/piping are no longer the same size. I wouldn’t do this to any pair I’ve purchased recently, or at least any pair that’s worth more than $6 or $8 – I think this is only a real option for underwear that you’d buy in bulk and isn’t designed to stand out.

image

Backside: Like the front, rather flat, though there’s at least a slight curve between the legs.
Legs: At this point in time, they’re getting worn and loose, but they were similar to the Core Cycle Trunk originally, if a bit shorter.
Overall: 2.5/5 – I do love sleeping in these, and they’re good to wear for a day in the office as well, but they’re really hard to find at this point, (the closest I’ve found are here,)and you can do sooooo much better pouch-wise anyway.
Great for: Sleepwear
