Black mesh is almost always a nice looker, and this is no exception! Hard to tell the pouch shape with mesh, but of course the shape isn’t the point when you can see right through it anyway!
I like the black+white look of the waistband here, too – with the font, it looks especially bold and statement-making (as if the mesh didn’t already do that).
Usually I say that mesh is 50/50 in terms of how it feels, since sometimes it feels like wire, and other times it feel like your skin is bulging through each little hole and you get a “bumpy” feeling inside your pants. The mesh here looks thicker and softer, so that’s nice, but TBD if it gives that “bumpy” feeling.
This is one of three pictures in a series showing off this blue Riot @aussiebum pair… Unfortunately, this series wasn’t clear whther this guy was showing off a Riot brief or a Riot jockstrap. =-( Still, you can tell from this pic and series that the Riot cut seems like a comfy option from AussieBum, plus it’s a nice bold blue. The peekaboo hole up front is always a fun touch (which, if this a brief instead of a jockstrap, has a similar peekaboo hole just under the waistband in back too!) that definitely encourages the wearer to strut their stuff any time there’s wearing this pair, even in everyday under-the-pants situations.
It’s high time to show off the pair in my avatar, right? I think using my 25th review, and the first post of a new month, is a proper place to make the highlight!
Material: 92% Polyester, 8% Elastane, and overall a wonderful feel. Lightweight, soft, very smooth/sleek, and almost with a slight cooling sensation(??) that’s very comfortable. Aesthetic: Woof… Continuing on the establishedtheme that I think the denim look is sexy, I absolutely love this pair. And if you think skinny jeans look better than normal jeans because they hug your form more… Well, you can’t get more form-hugging than underwear like this! Especially the rear view, hehheh. I love the back pocket, belt loops, front button, and “distressed” look with the holes. The thought that, from a distance, people might think you’re actually wearing jean shorts also seems very fun to me. At least until they notice just how nicely it hugs your backside or highlights your bulge… Waistband: The waistband itself is fairly comfy, and sized very well. It’s a bit on the tall side, which makes sense since it’s imitating the waistband of a pair of jeans, but it can on rare occasion start feeling a little uncomfortable, especially if it folds over itself a little bit. Pouch: Roomy and structured enough that it really highlights your bulge, creating a nice, almost-hammock like space for your junk to rest in. The overall material is really smooth, and the pouch itself has two layers of fabric there to reduce friction. The material is still really lightweight, though, so the pouch is really breathable even with two layers. A lot of designers like to say their underwear feels almost like not wearing underwear at all… I say this pouch is one of the few that actually feels that way. Backside: Looooove how smooth it feels as it does a great job of hugging and contouring your cheeks. So much shape! The only little downside is how the tag is affixed on the waistband. It’s a fairly solid tag, and bigger because the waistband itself is kinda tall, so it’s occasionally noticeable especially if you somehow sit on it the wrong way. It’s kinda cool how the tag is offset from the center, though, so that the “outside tag” can happen and look all the more like a real pair of jeans. Legs: Really does a nice job of (comfortably!) hugging your thighs in the same way the backside hugs your rump. They have a nice elasticity to keep everything from feeling too tight or too loose, which of course only really works if they’re sized nicely to begin with. And I’m a fan of the length on these, since they’re long enough that they never roll up on my giant thighs. On that note: when I purchased this – both times, since I have two now – it was called the “LongLeg”, not the “Hipster”. It has apparently been renamed in the intervening years, and Aussiebum now offers a new “LongLeg” that goes basically all the way down to the knees. I have only become aware of this development while writing this review, so I’m really tempted to get the longer BodyDenim now… Overall: 5/5 – I was tempted to knock it just a bit to 4.5/5 thanks to the waistband, but I honestly love the look, fabric, and cut too much to not give it my highest possible recommendation. As I said, I have two of these now. This is a great pair of underwear that would look great on about anyone. Highly, highly recommend! Great for: Everyday wear, Loungewear, Sexy wear Good for: Sleepwear, Activewear
Material: 87% Micro Modal, 13% Elastane, soft and silky smooth feel. I still don’t know what the advert means by “four-way stretch”, but since it’s the second designer I’ve seen use the phrase, I assume it’s some well-defined industry standard. Aesthetic: Simple solid color with a black waistband branded in big white AUSSIEBUM letters. The contrast of the colors on the waistband might grab your attention, but otherwise, the design isn’t trying to stand out color-wise. Waistband: Sits fairly comfortably on or just above the hips. The seam that attaches the waistband to the rest of the pair is a bit on the tight side. Not that it’s actually all that tight, it does stretch pretty well, but it’s a lot less stretchy than the fabric below it or the rest of the waistband above it, which makes it a little awkward. This isn’t a pair that slides on easily, but general wear is perfectly fine.
Pouch: This is where the Wobbl is made to stand out! While the pair has a generally flat front, it also has a very clear little sleeve for your willie to slide down into. This lower pouch allows for a lot of movement, though I think Aussiebum’s philosophy when it comes your penis (move it around/show it off) is very different when it comes to your balls, because like their WonderYears it feels like the intent is to just strap the boys down – there’s not much ball room in this pouch. This also gives me an opportunity to talk about how guys like to wear their willies – down, up, or to the side. There are of course pros and cons to each. A lot of underwear ads include downward-pointing dick since it often gives a rounder look, though I’ve found that many pairs don’t do a good job of preventing skin-on-skin rubbing between the dick, balls, and thighs. Wobbl does not have that problem with its dedicated cock sleeve and tight ball sack, though, so no real worries there. Wearing your dick down is also good if you like wearing pants that are tight around the hips since wearing your dick up or to the side just makes the hip area all the tighter, though just make sure there’s room in the crotch if so. I do tend to prefer showing a crotch bulge over showing a leg bulge, but either way I don’t want to squeeze my member too much to do either. Lastly, the dedicated sleeve (combined with slight tightness in the waistband and leg openings) means this is not the friendliest of pairs when you have to go to the bathroom – you will never be able to just “whip it out”. That said, I still like the overall comfort and look of this pouch. Backside: Smooth and simple. A bit flatter cut than other pairs I’ve worn, but tight enough give a nice shape, even if it’s a single ass instead of two cheeks. Legs: Like the waistband, the leg openings are a little on the tight side getting on and off. There’s a little bit of skin bunching/bulging where the thighs come out, but the tightness is nowhere remotely close to as noticeable as it was in the WonderYears pair. Overall: 3/5 – definitely a fun pair to have but also not vital to have in your collection (unless you like showing off with a bounce!). Great for: Sexy wear, Loungewear Good for: Everyday wear, Sleepwear
Material: 65% Polyester, 35% Cotton in a “2×2 ribbed cotton-weave”. Feels both soft and strong, plus is pretty breathable. Aesthetic: The classic/vintage look is strong with the WonderYears line, both with the ribbed look, the noticeable waistband, and the pop of the white trim/piping. Aside from the trim/piping, the pair is a solid color, all in the pastel spectrum for the WonderYears line, but strong pastels as opposed to pastels that simply look faded. Waistband: Not bad; comfy enough, but still noticeable with a slight squeeze. Can fold up a little bit too. Sits just above your hips. Like the waistband, most of the underwear is tight (to varying degrees) on you, which combined with the semi-low rise means this pair is in theory great for slimmer-fit pants, though be careful if the pants also have a tight waistband (or an uncomfortable tag) as you might get red marks around your actual waist. Pouch: The classic look includes a traditional vertical fly, which often means little to no shape to the pouch because a traditional vertical fly requires a double-layer of fabric that involves multiple attachment points. However, the WonderYears line constructs each layer of the fly’s fabric out of multiple panels with a very faint vertical seam that goes right down the middle of the pouch’s front. On the plus side, this means a brief with a vertical fly actually has a very shapely, impressive front pouch (more only for your willie than for your balls, though – there’s not much ball room at the lower end of the pouch). On the flip side, though, this high-depth pouch combined with the strong, relatively inflexible trim and relatively small fly opening renders the fly absolutely useless. It’s nearly impossible to wriggle your fingers into the pouch to fetch your schlong, and the amount of stretching needed to pull the two fly openings past each other essentially cuts your sensitive organ completely off as the rigid structure of the pouch pulls back in a wicked shearing strain. So while the fly looks good and it technically function, you really can’t use it at all.
Backside: Pretty nice, honestly! Definitely soft. Gives a slight feel of thickness that the fabric in much other underwear doesn’t give, so it cushes your seat a little bit. Also, like most of the pair, it fits a bit tightly, which in this area of the pair gives your butt a nice, pert look.
Legs: Ow! The leg openings of this pair are annoyingly, uncomfortably tight! It’s hard to pull the pair on or take it off over my big thighs, and I was reminded of the fact I was wearing this pair throughout the day with the cutting squeeze it gave to the loins. If you have legs that are on the slimmer side compared to the rest of you, this pair might be fine, but it’s definitely not for me. Overall: 1/5 – despite the nice ass, great shape of the pouch, and attractive overall aesthetic, the leg opening were a slow torture and the completely impractical fly (why include it if you’re going to make it so damn hard to use?) really soured me on this pair. They’re great if you know you’re gonna have your picture taken while showing off your briefs, but aside from that I wouldn’t recommend them at all. Oh, and as a spoiler: I have a “whitey tighty” pair of Aussiebum Classic briefs as well, and were I to do a review of that pair, it would be almost word for word the same as this review. Great for: NA Good for: Sexy wear
Material: 92% Polyester, 8% Elastane – feels very natural, even if noticeably “smoother” than cotton or other traditional fabrics. Lightweight but feels fairly sturdy. Aesthetic: I love me a good tartan-based design, and the fact that these are various shades of orange (my favorite color) makes it all the better! Attention-getting, but not too loud or overstated by any means. Definitely a fun – maybe even in a reserved way? – look to be seen in. Waistband: Soft; not too big or too small, nor too loose or too tight. Sits comfortably between the hips and waist, though closer to the waist (maybe even at the waist for some people based on body type, motions through the day, or just how they like wearing their briefs). Pouch: A general fly-less pouch; not much structure to it, but just enough shaping to keep your junk slightly forward and out from between your thighs. Unlike the rest of brief, the pouch uses two layers of fabric instead of just one, so it’s definitely soft and supportive, plus the extra layer leaves and extra degree of freedom for your package so it’s not pushed around as much as you move about. Backside: Holds you well. Has a slight dip built it to help give you some shape and highlight each cheek. Tag is built in to the back of the waistband and is generally quite soft, though very rarely you might notice a corner of the tag. Legs: This aspect with where this pair has really surprised me. Appended to the otherwise-tiny hem of the leg openings is a stretchy, almost-mesh-y, lightweight strip of fabric that looks almost like a pseudo-waistband, if just not quite as wide or as solid. Since a lot of waistbands have the issue of folding/bunching up if they’re not strong or wide enough, and the waist itself is much less fold-y than the leg-hip meeting, I was worried that these would be rather uncomfortable, and maybe even ride up. Boy was I wrong! They’re super-comfy, and almost help hold everything else in place. They do fold slightly, but it seems they were designed to do so with how soft and lightweight they are – nothing like how a waistband might bunch up uncomfortably. Oh, and the leg openings of the main fabric are sized very well to begin with, so that helps a lot. I’m not sure if the extra band of fabric attached to each leg opening was necessary, but they don’t hurt the pair at all, and add to the fun look of the pair as well. Overall: 4/5 – a comfy, solid, reliable pair that’s great to have in any underwear collection, and one you’ll probably wear often even if there’s nothing particularly remarkable about them. Great for: Everyday wear, Loungewear Good for: Sleepwear, Activewear, Sexy wear
