Envy – Sequin Low Rise Trunk – Red – M/L

Material: 100% Polyester, in solid fabric (pouch), fine mesh (most of the pair), and a larger mesh (sequin overlay). To be fully honest, I expected the sequin overlay to make the pair generally uncomfortable – but it’s been very judiciously applied, and the pair is overall rather comfy! That’s saying something in itself, since I’ve found that mesh is very hit-or-miss in terms of comfort – if the holes are too big or the pair is generally too tight, your skin can slightly bulge out through the holes. It’s not usually uncomfortable in and of itself, but when you’re wearing anything on top of such a mesh pair, you feel each skin bump as it brushes against the other material. And that’s not a problem at all with this pair. The first time I wore them, I actually slept in them!
Aesthetic: SHINY, SPARKLEY SEQUINS! All on top of a mesh setting, and red is always a sexy, passionate color. Everything about this pair is about putting on a show in the bedroom, which makes sense for a women’s lingerie brand that has branched out into men’s lingerie too.
Waistband: Basically not there, it’s just the top hem of the main fabric. Nicely elastic, and fits well. Low-rise as advertised! It is lingerie, after all.
Pouch: Pretty nice! A little stifling compared to the rest of the pair, but that’s expected considering solid (polyester) fabric compared to mesh. Nice shape too! It’s a little small, but not oppressively so, which combined with the forward-built shape means it makes your goods look like a nice, full package.
Backside: The shape is great, with one of the back seams made to highlight the curve between your cheeks. I could personally have used just a hair more coverage, but lingerie is probably designed for guys that don’t have as much ass as I do. X-D Tag is visible through the mesh but almost never felt.

Legs: The leg openings on this are sized great, so the pair works for someone with big thighs even if not for someone with a big backside. They are, though, the one place where any issues with the sequins comes in to play. The sequin overlay on the front side of the pair starts at the waistband hem and goes all the way down to fold over the leg openings and create the leg hems. It’s noticeable, but not all that bothersome to me. YMMV
Overall: 3/5 for comfort but 5/5 for looks. If you want a fun pair of lingerie (especially if you want lingerie with a more modest design) then definitely consider this one!

Andrew Christian – FUKR Access Boxer – Black – Medium

Material: 95% Cotton, 5% Spandex, comfortable enough but nothing to write home about.
Aesthetic: Oh my… Well, it’s an AC FUKR pair, so it’s sleek and black with a loud neon waistband, which is made to get your attention – if everything that it exposes doesn’t grab your attention already.
Wasitband: Feeling-wise, what you expect of most waistbands. Sits between the hips and waist; good size.
Pouch: …or not! This is the time I’ll point out that I actually have two FUKR Access Boxers, one of which was recently purchased (and still available) and the other of which was purchased a year ago and is actually a different design that’s out of production! The pictures above are of the new pair, though below are the older (now unavailable) pair. The new pair has a GIANT hole where the crotch should be to let it all hang out, and in my opinion the hole could have actually been a little smaller – it’s sooooo open that it just feels kinda sloppy to me, (especially if you have a forest down there like I do,) plus the extra exposed skin allows from some potential skin-on-skin contact between the scrotum and legs that’s undesired. A slightly smaller hole that traces your junk better would also provide some modicum of “support”, while the larger hole makes it feel like you might as well be naked. The older cut has a closed front with a fairly nice pouch, somewhere between the Basix pouch and the Almost Naked pouch.
Backside: The current FUKR Access Boxer has a big, ellipse-shaped opening in back that the openings you see on many jock briefs. That’s certainly nice, but it’s somewhat “expected”. The older FUKR Access Boxer instead had a smaller, lens-shaped opening going down the back seam, which I personally a lot “naughtier”, more teasing, and exciting – and it also let you feel like you were really wearing a boxer, save a small draft, instead of exposing your ass to your pants material or whatever it was you might have been sitting on. (AC currently offers a Polyurethane+Polyester “FUKR Slit Boxer” that looks to be the same pattern that my old FUKR Access Boxer had.)

Legs: The newer Access has relatively short legs, which combined with the freely hanging junk means that there’s a lot of potential for skin-on-skin rubbing – it’s more of a trunk than an actual boxer. The older Access had longer legs, which I generally prefer, though you do run the risk of wearing down the fabric between the legs like I’ve mentioned with some other longer-legged pairs; I find the wear tends to be fabric-dependent in that case. Interestingly, the legs (and much of the rest of the pair) in the older Access all feel slightly on the tight side, which I haven’t found with the mini-legs and side fabric of the newer pair.
Overall: 2/5 – for the pair that’s currently available. Great if you want to show off, but otherwise it’s a pair of underwear that completely defeats the point of wearing underwear. 3.5/5 for the older, sadly unavailable version of the FUKR Access Boxer, only knocked below a 4 for being on the tight side.

Andrew Christian – Basix Tagless Comfort Brief – Heather Burgundy (Maroon) – Medium

Material: 95% Cotton, 5% Spandex, comfortable enough but nothing to write home about.
Aesthetic: Simple is always good, but there’s something sleek about the Basix brief. Maybe it’s the general shape combined with the smooth, almost-but-not-quite-muted dark color.
Wasitband: Stealthy, not very tall and covered in the fabric without being much thicker than the rest of the brief, almost doesn’t feel like a waistband. Not the stretchiest elastic around, but the circumference fits perfectly around me, neither loose nor cutting in. Sits low on the hips.
Pouch: Most of AC’s underwear features either the Show-It (built-in C-ring) pouch or the Almost Naked (simultaneously lifting and wonderfully loose) pouch; the Basix Brief has neither. Instead, it has a very well-designed basic pouch that provides a slight bit of lift and a pleasant amount of room – it’s a confidently structured pocket that your junk slots very neatly in to. It doesn’t try to overdo anything, satisfying itself with keeping you unencumbered and comfortably in place with just the right amount of space.
Backside: AC went all-in with the “basic” thought process here as well, creating a backside that is smooth and simple – not too tight, and not loose either. The “tag” is printed on the inside of the fabric instead of being separate material on the inside of the waistband, which helps for eliminating the potential of feeling the edges of a separate tag, but every once in a while might cause the print to stick to your skin in a way you can consciously feel, especially if you’ve been sweating at all.
Legs: No news is good news! Nothing amazing about the leg openings, but definitely nothing bad about them either.
Overall: 4.5/5 – a brand known for being over-the-top has created almost the perfect everyday pair of briefs, which is something I’m honestly rather surprised I would ever say! The only reasons I don’t give it a full 5/5 are that it doesn’t have a fly, and that AC has done SUCH a good job of making a reserved, practical-minded, essentially unremarkable pair of underwear that there’s nothing I can really say definitely puts it over the top. (Also, I’m sure there are plenty of guys like you out there that can’t imagine a “boring, single-color pair of briefs” being worthy of a full 5/5.)

Aussiebum – Wobbl brief – Blue – Medium

Material: 87% Micro Modal, 13% Elastane, soft and silky smooth feel. I still don’t know what the advert means by “four-way stretch”, but since it’s the second designer I’ve seen use the phrase, I assume it’s some well-defined industry standard.
Aesthetic: Simple solid color with a black waistband branded in big white AUSSIEBUM letters. The contrast of the colors on the waistband might grab your attention, but otherwise, the design isn’t trying to stand out color-wise.
Waistband: Sits fairly comfortably on or just above the hips. The seam that attaches the waistband to the rest of the pair is a bit on the tight side. Not that it’s actually all that tight, it does stretch pretty well, but it’s a lot less stretchy than the fabric below it or the rest of the waistband above it, which makes it a little awkward. This isn’t a pair that slides on easily, but general wear is perfectly fine.

Pouch: This is where the Wobbl is made to stand out! While the pair has a generally flat front, it also has a very clear little sleeve for your willie to slide down into. This lower pouch allows for a lot of movement, though I think Aussiebum’s philosophy when it comes your penis (move it around/show it off) is very different when it comes to your balls, because like their WonderYears it feels like the intent is to just strap the boys down – there’s not much ball room in this pouch. This also gives me an opportunity to talk about how guys like to wear their willies – down, up, or to the side. There are of course pros and cons to each. A lot of underwear ads include downward-pointing dick since it often gives a rounder look, though I’ve found that many pairs don’t do a good job of preventing skin-on-skin rubbing between the dick, balls, and thighs. Wobbl does not have that problem with its dedicated cock sleeve and tight ball sack, though, so no real worries there. Wearing your dick down is also good if you like wearing pants that are tight around the hips since wearing your dick up or to the side just makes the hip area all the tighter, though just make sure there’s room in the crotch if so. I do tend to prefer showing a crotch bulge over showing a leg bulge, but either way I don’t want to squeeze my member too much to do either. Lastly, the dedicated sleeve (combined with slight tightness in the waistband and leg openings) means this is not the friendliest of pairs when you have to go to the bathroom – you will never be able to just “whip it out”. That said, I still like the overall comfort and look of this pouch.
Backside: Smooth and simple. A bit flatter cut than other pairs I’ve worn, but tight enough give a nice shape, even if it’s a single ass instead of two cheeks.
Legs: Like the waistband, the leg openings are a little on the tight side getting on and off. There’s a little bit of skin bunching/bulging where the thighs come out, but the tightness is nowhere remotely close to as noticeable as it was in the WonderYears pair.
Overall: 3/5 – definitely a fun pair to have but also not vital to have in your collection (unless you like showing off with a bounce!).

Papi – Cotton Stretch Thong – Black – Medium

Material: 95% Cotton, 5% Spandex, nothing really extraordinary about it.
Aesthetic: I’m generally not a fan of pure black, since it hides any contouring, and there isn’t enough fabric with a thong to really make use of black’s slimming effect. However, the white stripe and text on the waistband are nice and crisp, giving the pair a bold, almost-formal look.
Waistband: The general feel of the waistband is pretty typical, but the elastic inside might be a tad bit too strong, particularly around the lower hem of the waistband, as it got uncomfortably tight after a while.
Pouch: Like Papi’s Force Boxer, the pouch here is only slightly contoured, giving you enough room but nothing to really show off. I will mention that I broke one of my guidelines when ordering this: while my thighs and ass are on the bigger side, which makes me usually order mediums, I’ll often order smalls for thongs and jockstraps since you don’t have to worry about the ass or legs for those, unlike with briefs, trunks, boxers, etc. Considering the waistband, I’m glad I didn’t order a small, but I’ve always though the purpose of a thong (aside from showing off your cheeks and giving a fun feeling between them) was to show off your package a bit, and ordering the medium for this pair provided a pouch that I think was designed to be snug but ultimately was on the roomier side of comfy instead of the snugger side.
Backside/String: The thongs strap itself was interesting in how wide it was; it was somewhere between a true string width and a true strap width, so it didn’t have an easy fold down its length while as the same time didn’t quite just slip up between your cheeks. The transition from the back panel to the strap was also a little tight against your tailbone, which combined with the slightly-too-tight waistband and slightly-not-tight-enough pouch to give the feeling that it just wasn’t a good fit.
Overall: 2/5 – some slight fit issues that make me feel like there are plenty of better options out there. However, nothing wrong with the material, and still a classy look, so a moderately good option overall, especially if you like thongs.

Papi – Force of Nature Brazillian Boxer – Blue – Medium

Material: 95% Cotton, 5% Spandex, smooth but not entirely slick. Relatively soft and lightweight, though with a clear balance with athleticism and movement in mind.
Aesthetic: The blue camo overlaid with a net-like pattern is very sleek and slimming, plus just simply cool to look at. There’s some complimentary orange included in the waistband, giving a small pop of color that really makes the pair attractive. (Side note: my camera HATED focusing on the camo/net pattern!)
Waistband: Feeling-wise, what you expect of most waistbands. Sits between the hips and waist; good size.
Pouch: Slightly contoured, just enough to give you some room and shape for your package, but it’s clearly not a focus of the pair either.
Backside: Like the waistband, relatively what you’d expect! Not a ton of shape, but it does separate your cheeks a bit, which is nice. No tag, as the vital information is printed on the inside of the back panel and is unnoticeable.
Legs: Also pretty run-of-the-mill in a comfortable way. Good length, not too loose or too tight.
Overall: 3.5/5 – nothing too incredible, but an overall solid, reliable, practical pair that will always be a good pick when you’re getting ready in the morning.

K’mando – Pouch – Talc White – Regular

Material: 100% Micro-Terry Comfortel, which I’ve never heard of before or seen in any of my other underwear, and it’s certainly unique. Ultimately, it feels similar to sock material, though there are so many kinds of socks out there I’m not sure if it’s an entirely fair and unambiguous comparison. If you read K’mando advertising material and expected this to feel like you’re not wearing underwear at all, then you’ll be disappointed. However, while many brands try to make “feels like nothing at all” underwear and K’mando has failed in that respect completely, my experience with this has opened my eyes to the possibility of a pair of underwear that surrounds your junk is cushy goodness, padding you a little bit and definitely feeling comfortably warm and dry – I really enjoyed sleeping in this, and I can see this being great to wear under almost any pair of pants, too.
Aesthetic: The rounded, compact nature of the pouches in pure, almost-textured white gives this a look that borders between risque and cute; there’s a slight bit of black text around the front of the pouch’s opening, near the small snaps, that look nice if you notice them in the first place, as they’re clearly not the focus.
Pouch: It seems a little small at first and hard to get your junk in, compounded by the fact that the two-option snap fixing is a bit hard to clasp (especially if you’re hairy down there,) but that’s all a passing notion. Your willie gets its own section of the pouch, and there’s a small seam in the pouch meant to hold your balls as well to (in theory) give this pair three separate compartments for your junk. This eliminates any potential skin-on-skin rubbing, which is great. The front compartment also is slightly stretchy, so there’s a little bit of room to grow as well – the pictures above already show me stretching it out a little bit. (If you’re a shower and not a grower, or big-balled, you might want to consider the “Special” size instead of the “Regular” size.) Finally, there’s a bit of a lip on the underside of the opening, which acts as a bit of a brace against your pubic arch to provide a little bit of lifting & promotion.
Overall: 4.5/5 – the only reason I don’t give this a full 5/5 is because it seems a little small before you put it on, and as such is a teeny bit difficult to put on. Also, this rating will obviously go down if you hate the material, but I enjoy the soft, warm sock feeling.

Pikante – 8011 Jupiter Thong – Blue – Medium

Material: 93% Polyester, 7% Spandex; it’s very shiny! However, it’s also a high-maintenance fabric – you’re asked very noticeably to hand-wash the pair and hang dry. Finally, it’s odd in the sense that the material tends to stick to itself – the pair was packaged with paper to keep it mostly separated while folded, but I still had to pull it apart.
Aesthetic: HHOOOO BOY. X-D Well, most of what I’ll say has to do with the pouch/crotch area, but what I can definitely say here is SHINY. The bright color also contrasts impressively with the black waistband, giving the pair a fun/loud look just from the colors and material used.
Waistband: Relatively normal! Sits low in official images, but I wear it higher.
Pouch: Instead of having an actual front, the Jupiter thong has an open front and three elastic bands with small slide fasteners to make little loops at the end of each strap, and the middle strap longer than the two that slightly favor either side. It took me a while looking online for a non-blurred photo of someone else wearing a Jupiter thong to figure out exactly how the three bands were to be worn, so it’s not entirely straightforward, but it works. The two shorter straps together are worn like a thick C-ring at the base of the shaft, while the longer strap functions like a “strut” as it’s worn closer to the head, holding your willie out forward. Finally, the open hole of the crotch comes up under your scrotum fairly well, which combined with the harness for your junk really minimizes and skin-on-skin contact.
Backside/String: Almost an afterthought after the involved front, but the thong strap itself is a good size, if a bit noticeable thanks to the material itself. The back panel is somewhat on the larger side, but still slots in between your cheeks fairly well. Tag is sizeble and somewhat stiff, though with everything else going on, it doesn’t feel incredibly out of place.
Overall: 1.5/5 – this almost shouldn’t be considered underwear since you won’t wear this under pants, you won’t wear it to sleep, you won’t wear it just lounging around, and you (probably) can’t wear this to fuck either. And you can’t easily throw it in the wash, on top of everything else. It’s basically just a really sexy, bondage-ish costume masquerading as a thong. For looking damn sexy, I’d say it gets a 5/5, but you should only buy this if you’re going to a special event where you know you’re gonna show off and will have an opportunity to change in to this.

Obligatory MAL post

A DC-based underwear fan can’t go ignoring the massive event that is Mid-Atlantic Leather weekend, now, can he? To be fully honest, I’m rather vanilla and reserved, so I didn’t go shirtless today and didn’t have a true harness. Instead, I wore a fun Andrew Christian tee with a seatbelt-material belt that I wore as a faux harness (left is me, right is AC’s pic of the tee):

Unfortunately, neither item is available any more… The tee because AC is an asshole that makes almost every item they ever produce a “limited run” item, and the seatbelt-style belt because each one is custom-made by one of the MAL vendors – I bought the Pokeball belt at last year’s MAL, and when we stopped by the same booth this year, they had similar belts but in different designs.

Anyway, I made two purchases in the MAL marketplace today: a Fort Troff jockstrap and a small vendor’s tiger-stripe singlet! Left is FT’s pic of the jockstrap, right is a singlet similar to the one I got, though the one I got has a MUCH lower front. X-D

Finally, I had tried on a few several of the pairs I ordered earlier this week (they came in quickly!) and I’ll get around to reviewing them ALL for you tomorrow! At least, all that are underwear – I’ll save the swim brief for later. Also, I’ll post one of the reviews today, with the most MAL-est pair that I ordered! I’m sure it should be pretty easy to guess which one. X-D

Nasty Pig – Union Suit – Blue – Medium

Material: 95% Cotton, 5% Spandex, with a slight ribbing effect; nice and weighty and sturdy, as with many Nasty Pig products. Every once in a while, it makes me itch a little or gives some general sensation of pull/dryness in areas where the fabric is consistently stretched, but it’s generally soft and warm, so not too bad overall. The discomfort might simply be me – I’ve always had sensitive skin, and I get the same feeling when tall socks are stretched over my upper calves, so it should be little to no worry to most of you, especially since I’ve only noticed the “problem” over my calves or shoulders instead of over the whole suit, which supports the thought that it’s not a problem with the material overall.
Aesthetic: Since it’s one solid color, nothing sticks out much on first glance. However, the NP logo is nicely placed right where the logo on a regular polo shirt would be, giving a pseudo-professional look that you wouldn’t expect for an under-layer. Next of course is the series of button snaps that goes all the way from the neck, down through the crotch, and around up to just above the butt. This looks much slicker than the traditional butt-flap on union suits from days past.
Coverage: As a union suit, it will completely cover your back, your arms, and your legs. With that much coverage, the occasional annoyance from the fabric is not-so-occasional, but as stated above, that might be just me. The full coverage grants some level of modesty, maybe enough to make you feel comfortable being seen in various situations with this showing. It also is great cold-weather wear, either under regular clothes or lounging about the house, as it completely covers your arms up to the wrists and legs down to the ankles, keeping those extremities a bit warmer than otherwise.
Access: Any full-body piece of “underwear” such as a union suit, a onesie, or a singlet isn’t going to come off easily if you need to go to the bathroom (or want to do other things that need access). Union suits are generally the best of the full-body underwear as they’re usually designed to have access of some sort, and the Nasty Pig union suit does not disappoint! The long-line-of-snaps design eliminates the bulkiness and hassle of the traditional flap design, making it incredibly easy to go #1 or #2 (or do other things that need access) – and, as a bonus, it’s easy to show off your chest and/or abs whenever you want, too! Just undo whichever snaps are needed.

Overall: 3.5/5 – you should get one, but just one. Maybe two if you’re gonna be “using” it with someone often, but they’re expensive and always sell out really quickly each year. (Also, since they sell out, the colors they make each year seem to vary – the 2017/18 batch of Union Suits seems to not include blue, instead favoring a new grey option to compliment the black and red options.)
